What is Message Therapy?

Ever wake up with a stiff neck, or pain in your shoulders? Does your back ache after the workday? Do you suffer from stress-induced headaches? You may need a day at the spa to take advantage of massage therapy. For thousands of years, people have learned about the body’s muscles, nerves, and bones,  how they interact with each other, and how to relieve pain through tissue manipulation. In addition to pain relief, it has shown that massage therapy can reduce stress and improve relaxation efforts.

You’ll find examples of massage therapy in both eastern and western histories/medicine as a means to reduce tension and treat pain. It has also been linked to reducing the symptoms of anxiety and depression, promoting overall health and wellbeing.

At Reflections, we offer a number of different types of massage therapy so you can choose the right option(s) for your particular pains. Each one will target soft muscle tissue to remove “knots,” which bind nerves and send pain signals to your brain.

Swedish massage: Long gliding strokes get the blood flowing and stretches out your tightened and tense muscles.

Deep tissue massage: Need a bit more power behind the massage? Deep tissue massages increase the pressure to break up the binding in your muscles. improve functionality, and reduce recovery time.

Hot stone massage: By using hot, smooth stones, the blood rushes to the target areas to aid in relaxation and reduce stress/strains.

Pregnancy massage: Designed for expecting mothers, this massage targets the shoulders, lower back, hips, and legs — all of the hardest working muscles to carry your child. New mothers can also benefit from a session!

Why keep living with neck, shoulder, and back pain when a quick trip to our spa can set you right again and help you feel as good as new? We have a variety of massage therapy options available for every need and budget and we’re happy to help you find the best option for you.
