Why you Should Wear Sunscreen
One of the best things you can do for your skin to keep it looking youthful, plump, and especially undamaged, is to wear sunscreen when you go out. Did you know it’s even beneficial to wear sunscreen on cloudy days? What about during the colder months of the year? Harmful UV rays can still penetrate the cloud layer and damage your skin, and the cold weather doesn’t mean the sun isn’t emitting heat and UV rays that can cause issues for your skin.
The mildest ill effect you can suffer from not wearing sunscreen is a sunburn; however, not all sunburns are the same. Some are mildly painful and irritating. Particularly bad cases of sunburns, also known as sun poisoning, can be extremely painful and accompanied by blisters. You can also suffer nausea, fatigue, fevers, headaches, and more with particularly vicious sunburns. Or, you can wear sunscreen before going out to avoid that pain.
Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer and is normally a result of prolonged and severe damage from the sun (and not wearing sunscreen). Skin cancer can be as easily treatable as a procedure to remove the affected skin, or it can be fatal. Rather than running the risk and rolling the dice with your health, it’s easier to wear sunscreen to avoid complications.
Even if you’re lucky enough to avoid skin cancer despite getting sunburns and foregoing sunscreen, the sunburns, UV rays, and constant sun exposure will take a toll on your skin and damage it. You will look older, wrinkled, and as some have described it, “leathery.” if you currently suffer from skin and sun damage, you have a few options available to you.
The first is to start wearing sunscreen immediately to halt any further damage. Rather than compound issues on top of one another, simply apply sunscreen before heading outdoors to protect yourself.
Secondly, our spa has a number of skincare treatments available to help you deal with sun damage. If you suffer from wrinkles, our botox and dermal fillers can address them and leave your skin looking healthy and plump again. If you suffer from sunspots on your skin, our laser treatments can reduce their prominence if not outright remove them.
